The batwing or turnstyle
antenna is a top-mounted, omni-directional, horizontally polarized antenna for
VHF television broadcast. Each bay is comprised of 4 radiating elements fabricated
of steel rods. The radiators are mounted at 90° with respect to one another.
The top and bottom of each radiator is solidly to the support mast, thus providing
excellent protection against lightning discharges.
Each bay is fed with four
cables. One pair of cables is connected to the North / South radiating elements.
The second pair is connected to the East / West elements and fed in phase quadrature
to produce an omni-directional pattern. All cables are pressurized to the feed
point of each radiator. The antenna comes standard with a single 3-1/8" E.I.A.
input.
